The clean way to read the boss lineup in MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is that not every fight is a straight DPS test. Some reward cover, some reward movement discipline, and some reward the right utility weapon more than raw damage. If you want one universal rule, it is this: tag bosses with damage over time or crowd control first, then switch to your comfort weapon.

Boss strategies
1. Watchamacallit-001 / 002 / 003

This early multi-phase fight teaches movement discipline.
- Watch for: sweeping lasers, mobility changes, and summoned explosive minions.
- Best plan: stay mobile, use steady mid-range pressure, then swap to the Boomstick when the minions start taking over the arena.
2. Vic Gatore

- Watch for: sustained heavy fire and narrow-walkway pressure.
- Best plan: play from cover. Use safe windows instead of trying to race his gun.
3. Third Wife

- Watch for: shield phases and summoned pressure.
- Best plan: break the shield with the required light-based interaction, clear adds quickly, then punish with sustained fire.
4. MiceGuffin MacLeod
- Watch for: moving target lines and backup boats.
- Best plan: prioritize accuracy and target cleanup over greedy damage.
5. Hitman
- Watch for: trapeze movement and short aiming windows.
- Best plan: use fast or accurate fire when the swing slows at its apex instead of wasting slow projectiles.
6. Cpt. Simms

This is one of the better examples of a fight changing rules midstream.
- Phase 1: clear shielded adds and keep Simms pressured from safe angles.
- Phase 2: shift to the arena interaction that actually ends the bombardment.
7. Reginald Shingler

- Watch for: constant retreat-and-throw patterns.
- Best plan: backpedal, keep spacing, and punish only when the line of sight is clean.
8. Professor von Harzer
- Watch for: chase pressure and environmental hazards.
- Best plan: keep aggression up so the fight never turns into a drawn-out pursuit.
9. Steve Bandel
- Watch for: platform flip cues.
- Best plan: do not treat this like a normal gunfight. Focus entirely on movement and safe-platform recognition.
10. Milford Soyer and Pierogi Jake

- Watch for: layered hazards, summoned enemies, and the late bruiser phase.
- Best plan: respect the beams, clear pressure first, then unload close-range burst into Pierogi Jake once he drops in.
Best weapons for boss fights
- Devarnisher: safest general-purpose boss pick.
- Boomstick: best answer when the boss or adds invade your space.
- James Gun: easiest sustained follow-up once you already understand the arena.
