Welcome back, gumshoe. After the run-in with the cops in Clergy Row, you might think you’ve seen the worst this city has to offer. Think again. This time, we’re diving headfirst into the grimy, dripping sewers beneath the city in “Cheeseball Sub.” A bunch of shrews have gone missing, and the trail leads straight to the Cheeselegger Foreman and his gang of goons. It’s a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it. So grab your Micer, check your ammo, and let’s get our feet wet.
Main Objectives
Your main goals in the Old Subway are to get to the bottom of this whole cheesy operation. Here’s the rundown:
- Search for the missing shrews.
- Track down the Cheeselegger Foreman.
- Take down the big boss, Vic Gatore.
- Study the “Tail-a-Choppa” schematic.
- Call the elevator and survive the ensuing ambush.
- Escape the sewers in one piece.
- Pin the Old Subway clues to your board.
Cheeseball Sub Walkthrough
The mission kicks off in the Old Subway, a place that hasn’t seen a friendly face in decades. Your first task is to find those missing shrews. The path forward is pretty linear, but don’t let that fool you. The Cheeseleggers are lurking around every corner. Keep your Boomstick handy for any close encounters and use the crumbling pillars for cover.
You’ll eventually follow the trail to the Cheeselegger Foreman. He’s not much for conversation and will sic his goons on you. Take them out, and you’ll find your way deeper into their hideout, which leads directly to the big cheese himself.
Boss Fight: Vic Gatore
This is where things get tricky. Vic Gatore is a mountain of a reptile with a temper to match. He’s got a nasty charge attack that you’ll need to dodge, and he loves to hurl debris at you from across his arena. The key here is to stay mobile. Use your dash to avoid his attacks and get in a few shots with your Micer when you have an opening. After you’ve dealt enough damage, he’ll be seeing stars, and you can move on.
With Vic Gatore out of the picture, you’ll find a schematic for a curious new device: the “Tail-a-Choppa.” Make sure you grab that; it’ll come in handy later. Your next objective is to call an elevator to get out of this muck. Of course, it’s never that easy. The moment you hit the button, get ready for an ambush. Enemies will pour in from all sides. Find a defensible corner, lay down some fire, and survive the onslaught.
Once the last goon is down, the elevator will finally arrive. Ride it up, escape the sewers, and you’ll be back in your office, ready to pin the clues you’ve gathered to your investigation board. Another case closed… for now.
Collectibles and Secrets
This level is crawling with secrets, even if the official records are still being compiled. Keep your eyes peeled for the usual suspects: Comics, Newspapers, Baseball Cards, Schematics, and those elusive Figurines. In a place like the sewers, you’ll want to check every nook and cranny.
- Schematics: Look for hidden rooms behind cracked walls or inside maintenance tunnels. A well-placed Boomstick blast can sometimes open up new paths.
- Comics & Newspapers: These are often left in break rooms or offices. Even sewer-dwelling thugs need a little reading material.
- Figurines: Check high ledges or inside half-submerged pipes. The developers love to hide these in the most unlikely of places.
Don’t forget to tailpick any safes you come across. They’re usually stuffed with valuable resources and sometimes even a Baseball Card or two.
Boss Guide: Vic Gatore
Fighting Vic Gatore requires a mix of patience and aggression. Here are a few tips to get you through this brawl:
- Stay on the Move: Gatore’s primary attacks are a telegraphed charge and a debris toss. Neither can hit you if you keep dashing and moving around the arena.
- Use the Environment: The arena has several pillars you can use for temporary cover to reload or catch your breath. Be warned, though—Gatore can and will destroy them.
- Go for Close-Range Damage: While the Micer is great for chipping away at his health from a distance, the Boomstick is your best friend here. Wait for him to finish a charge, dash in close, and give him a face full of lead. It’s risky, but the damage output is worth it.
- Watch for Stuns: After taking a significant amount of damage, Gatore will be momentarily stunned. This is your prime opportunity to unload everything you’ve got on him.
Keep up the pressure, and this gator will be seein’ ya later.
